If March 11, 2011 is the first day, today is the 5,000th day.
Every year, a silent prayer is offered on March 11th, but there are many people who died at the moment of the disaster at 14h46, and there are many people who died without being found under the tsunami that came after it or were found under the rubble.
I think that the video of the Koyama confectionery shop is raw when you look at it many times. I think some of the people here, probably hundreds of people, have died from the tsunami.
NHK’s videos are not allowed to be embedded, so please refer to the link, but from the state before the earthquake occurred, the NHK broadcast when the earthquake occurred is shown, and after that, the video that conveys the magnitude of the damage continues.
I feel the powerlessness of human beings, and I realize that the energy of the earthquake is tremendous. The magnitude of the shaking at the peak is often reported, but I think that it should be remembered that it was shaking for a very long time.
I don’t know if it is the result of the evacuation drills I have experienced since childhood, but it seems that there were few cases where evacuating itself is panicking itself. I don’t hear reports like a crowd avalanche.
It is a state of adrenaline, evacuated outside the building in an excited state, and now it seems to be what to do from there.
In areas where a tsunami warning is issued, people are Detecting the danger because the alarm sound is sounding, people fleeing to higher ground are continuing to escape to higher ground.
If the disaster prevention radio is broken, the opportunity to evacuate on high ground will also be lost.
If you are caught between furniture and unable to move, the sound of a tsunami warning may be an alarm sound that must be prepared for your own death.
In the NHK video, about ten minutes after the tsunami, there were people shouting as if they were running away from the tsunami, but it was impressive that there were many people watching the sea on the riverside without any movement at all.
Alarm sound that makes you want to run away
I thought that if there are many people who do not run away even if they inform that the tsunami is coming, I should study how to warn them to escape.
I think it would be good to gather opinions such as people talking together and running away with fear if such a sound is heard, and I think that it is possible to play some kind of sound.
It’s a shame to run away, but it’s useful
There may be various people who hear the tsunami warning and think that they have “lost” when they ran away but the tsunami did not come, “I was embarrassed”, and those who ridiculed it.
I think we should form a public opinion that praises the escape.
In order to do so, I think it is necessary to educate about the lives saved by fleeing from the tsunami, and vice versa.
In coastal areas where there is a risk of tsunamis, we learn about tsunamis from an early age, but only a small part of the entire population.
If children in a prefecture without sea stay along the coast on a school trip, they may not be able to protect their lives unless they have tsunami education at school before that.
It is important to listen to the storyteller of the war, but it may be easier for children to hear the vivid stories of people who have experienced the tsunami.
The author is from a prefecture without a sea, and I grew up without knowing the horrors of the beach, let alone the tsunami.
The “story” of the victims.
It seems that there are many people who have been certified as “storytellers” after the Great East Japan Earthquake, but there are hundreds of thousands and millions of people who have experienced it, so I think that there are many people who have a topic to talk about.
Thirteen years have passed, but there are many victims who have already lost the opportunity to talk about the earthquake.
Listening to the story may make the air heavy, but on the other hand, I think that there are also positive topics, the people who are talking survived the disaster.
From today, if you listen to the story of one person every day, there is only a frame of five thousand people until the 10th day. Hundreds of thousands of victims are still alive in Miyagi and Iwate coastal areas alone, which have suffered heavy tsunami damage, so I hope you will create a “place to talk”.
Community radio as a place to talk.
There are things that can be difficult with nationwide TV and radio, but there may be things that community FM stations can do.
As for my proposal, I think that if we establish two ways: the way in which the victims of the disaster can come to the base and have them talk, and the method of listening to the story, I think that you can hear a lot of stories.
As for the base, if you can set up not only the radio station, but also the city hall and shopping mall, for example, something like a telephone booth and talk along the interview sheet prepared there, it seems that you can operate it unattended.
It is difficult for all the staff to respond to the visit, so if you can train an interviewer and, for example, if you can do activities that are introduced to various people in the elementary school district, you can hear a wide variety of stories.

Year 2038.
The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake reached its 10,000th day on June 3, 2022.
The 10,000th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake is July 26th.
And the Noto Peninsula earthquake will mark its 5,000th day on September 8, 2037.
Five thousand days or ten thousand days seems to be a long way off, but it may be a surprisingly close future.
In the meantime, there is a possibility of a new catastrophe. Now that I’m awake, I can’t deny it.
I hope that there will be no major disaster in the meantime so that 2038 will be greeted peacefully.
